Qualifications:

Dr Elle Carey is a double qualified medical doctor and a dental surgeon specialising in Oral Surgery. She qualified with First Class honours in her three bachelor's degrees in Anatomy (2005), in Medicine and Surgery (2008) and in Dentistry (2014). Dr Carey holds multiple postgraduate qualifications including a Diploma in Head and Neck Surgery (DOHNS), MRCS, MJDF, PGCert in Medical Education and a Masters in Science. She is currently finishing her Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation at Kings College University, London.

 

Dr Carey studied her degrees in both Anatomy and Medicine and Surgery at Nottingham University. She studied Dentistry and a Postgraduate Diploma in Sedation at Kings College London and completed her Masters at Queen Mary University London alongside her post-medical/surgical training positions. Dr Carey's specialist training has been carried out in South Wales, where she currently holds a post as a Specialist Registrar in Oral Surgery and as an honorary clinical teaching role at the University Hospital of Wales Cardiff.

 

Dr Carey's interest in education and training sees her lecture both undergraduate and postgraduate degree students in dentistry and oral surgery both nationally and internationally. In addition she teaches oral surgery skills throughout Wales on behalf of the Welsh Deanery. Dr Carey sits on the Strategic Advisory Committee for Oral Surgery in Wales and is the National Trainee Representative in Oral Surgery for Welsh Trainees. She has published multiple times in international journals and has won numerous clinical and academic prizes throughout her career.

 

Dr Carey's clinical focus lies in the field of Oral Surgery. She loves the challenge of providing care to patients with complex medical and psychological needs. She is a very well respected surgeon with a kind and gentle manner, exceptional level of training (including a degree in medicine and postgraduate training in sedation) and additional skills and qualifications to help manage people of all ages and from all backgrounds with anxiety or phobia related to oral surgery.

 

Dr Carey is a fluent Welsh-speaking Mother of three energetic little children. Her hobbies (when not running after her children) include painting, drawing, teaching, walking with her dog and DIY.
