Orthodontic extractions

Teeth don't often all come in to our mouths nice and straight. Crowding of the teeth is common and in order to make more space to allow for the teeth to be aligned often teeth need to be removed. It is common for people to need this treatment as young teens alongside their orthodontic treatment although more and more adults these days are also having this type of treatment. We work with many orthodontists and treating dentists to provide these extractions under their prescription. Our team of oral surgeons have thousands of hours of operating experience removing thousands of teeth which enables them to approach any extraction in an efficient manner for their patients. This helps to reduce procedure time and trauma as well as decreasing the risk of complications during or after surgery.

Our peaceful and relaxed environment here at the centre allows patients to have their surgery in as comfortable an environment as possible. Patients can watch a movie on our ceiling-mounted screens tucked in with a warm blanket whilst they have their extractions. As a routine we utilise advanced local anaesthetic techniques to try and ensure the whole procedure is as pain-free as possible. We also offer sedation for those patients in need of a little extra to help calm their nerves during the surgery.

I'm nervous of having teeth removed...

We are very aware that the idea of having a tooth removed can be stressful for people which is why we have worked hard to create as calm and relaxing environment at our clinic as possible. But we do also offer sedation for those patients who need something a little stronger to calm their nerves. To read more about our sedation service please click HERE.

why should I see a specialist and not my general dentist to have my extractions?

Specialist oral surgeons have trained extensively in the art and science of safe and accurate surgical removal of teeth. Their advanced knowledge and experience in this field helps reduce surgery time as well as decreasing complications during and after surgery. Having performed thousands of extractions and having spent tens of thousands of hours operating in the mouth you can rest assured you will be in safe hands with any of our team of Specialist Oral Surgeons.

DO I need to be referred to come and see you for orthodontic extractions?

Yes, for orthodontic extractions we must have a written referral from your orthodontist, or treating dentist, specifying exactly which teeth they want removing. We are specialists in oral surgery but not in straightening teeth so we will not be able to work without a referral. They can access our electronic referral form here.
