Intravenous sedation is extremely safe.

We can provide sedation for you during any surgical procedure that we perform to alleviate your anxiety. We understand that having surgery can be a scary prospect for some people. Although the whole team works very hard to try and create a welcoming and relaxing environment for our patients, some patients still need a little helping hand to get to a stage of relaxation where they can have their treatment.

We offer both intravenous sedation and nitrous oxide sedation depending on your level of anxiety and the type of treatment planned. Intravenous drugs, such as midazolam, have been used for many many years within the medical profession to safely relax patients. The technique enables us to treat patients who would otherwise have put treatment off until they were in severe pain sometimes requiring emergency hospital admission and subsequent emergency surgery under general anaesthetic.

All patients require a physical examination to assess suitability for sedation.
Examples of some of the types of patients who are not suitable for treatment under sedation are; pregnant patients, poorly controlled asthmatics, and patients with a BMI of higher than 35.
