We are frequently trusted by dentists and doctors to treat them and their families

Case Study

Pain in your face and neck can due to many causes. One of the commonest causes is associated with your jaw joint and the muscles that move this joint. We offer a specialist assessment of your symptoms and can work with you to utilise a variety of techniques to try and alleviate your pain. Alongside conventional methods of management we also offer more advanced treatment options including botulinum toxin injections and arthrocentesis. Our Maxillofacial Surgeon Mr Neil Scott has a special interest in this field and frequently lectures on the subject on a Regional and National Level.

Arthrocentesis is a procedure that involves flushing out of the jaw joint to try and improve the coordination of the cartilaginous disc movement within the joint space. This can have a massive improvement of mouth opening and reduction in symptoms. Below is an example of the improvement in mouth opening of a patient before and after having had an arthrocentesis with Mr Neil Scott.

Our peaceful and relaxed environment here at the centre will allow you to be seen in as comfortable an environment as possible. You can lay back and watch a movie on our ceiling-mounted screens tucked in with a warm blanket whilst we assess your pain and discover ways to improve your symptoms.

DO I NEED TO BE REFERRED TO COME AND SEE YOU?

No you do not. Although we do see a lot of patients suffering with TMJ symptoms referred by their dentist or GP, you do not need to be referred to come and see us. Our maxillofacial surgeon can be accessed directly without the need for a referral. To arrange a consultation please contact us and we would be happy to provide assistance.
